If you’re developing an electronic device and want to access the United States market, you will need to complete FCC testing and receive FCC certification for your device.

Certification is required under FCC Part 15, a regulation that governs use of the radio frequency (RF) spectrum by electronic devices. Like similar regulations in Europe, FCC Part 15 is intended to limit electromagnetic interference (EMI) caused by electronic devices.

We Can Help You Get FCC Certification in Switzerland

As an ANSI-accredited electronics testing facility and an FCC-recognized Telecommunications Certification Body (TCB), we can test your device to verify that it complies with all FCC Part 15 regulations and help you apply for and receive FCC certification.

Operating since 1963, we’ve worked with hundreds of businesses to achieve FCC certification for thousands of devices, including companies located in Switzerland.

To ask our engineers and compliance specialists a question, or to request a free, no-obligation quote for testing and certifying your device, contact us online or call us at 866-540-5287.

FCC Certification is Required for USA Market Access

By law, electronic devices that can emit radio frequency waves are required to comply with all FCC Part 15 standards, complete lab testing, and demonstrate compliance in order to access the USA market.

FCC Part 15 applies to intentional radiators (devices that deliberately emit RF energy) as well as unintentional radiators (devices that emit RF energy unintentionally as a byproduct of their design and/or internal components).

Devices that complete testing and demonstrate compliance with FCC Part 15, either via FCC certification or via a Supplier’s Declaration of Conformity, are granted equipment authorization and can enter the United States market.

Marketing a non-compliant device in the United States could result in legal action. The FCC is active in monitoring the market and fines manufacturers, importers and distributors of devices without equipment authorization.

What Devices Need FCC Testing & Certification?

All devices subject to FCC Part 15 need to be tested in an accredited laboratory and receive equipment authorization from the FCC.

Common device types that need FCC certification include:

  • Smartphones and other mobile devices
  • Cordless phones, remotes and control devices
  • TVs, Hi-Fi systems and other home entertainment equipment
  • Dishwashers, microwaves and other home appliances
  • Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Internet of Things (IoT) devices
  • Electronic musical instruments and recording devices
  • Computers, printers, keyboards and other peripherals
  • Security cameras and other home security systems
  • Commercial and industrial electronic devices and equipment
  • Other consumer electronics

Our engineering team can review your device’s manuals and/or documentation and help you understand the appropriate testing and equipment authorization procedures.
