If you’re located in Australia and want to bring your electronic device to market in the US, you’ll need to complete lab testing and verify that your product complies with FCC Part 15 regulations for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).

As an ANSI-accredited testing lab, we work with Australian businesses to complete lab testing and gain FCC equipment authorization for electronics. Our accredited facility is both a test lab and a Telecommunication Certification Body (TCB), allowing us to review your testing results and grant FCC certification to your device.

We have worked extensively with businesses in all of Australia’s major cities, including Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth and other locations.

Why is FCC Testing & Certification Important?

In the United States, all electronic devices capable of emitting radio frequency waves need to comply with FCC regulations, including FCC Parts 15 and/or 18, in order to be granted market access.

Devices that have completed testing and demonstrated compliance with FCC regulations gain equipment authorization, allowing them to display the FCC compliance mark and go on sale in the United States.

If you sell your device in the United States without completing FCC testing in an accredited lab and receiving equipment authorization, your business risks being subject to a fine or other legal action from the FCC.

Furthermore, many US-based retailers, such as Amazon, Walmart, Target and others, will only sell electronic devices if they can provide evidence of their FCC certification status, such as an FCC ID.

What Products Require FCC Certification?

FCC Part 15 applies to almost all electronic devices that can potentially emit radio frequencies (RF), including devices that only emit RF unintentionally.

Common device types regulated under FCC Part 15 include:

  • Smartphones and other mobile devices
  • Cordless phones, remotes and control devices
  • TVs, Hi-Fi systems and other home entertainment equipment
  • Dishwashers, microwaves and other home appliances
  • Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Internet of Things (IoT) devices
  • Electronic musical instruments and recording devices
  • Computers, printers, keyboards and other peripherals
  • Security cameras and other home security systems
  • Commercial and industrial electronic devices and equipment
  • Other consumer electronics

Under Part 15, devices are classified as intentional radiators or unintentional radiators based on their design and intended function. We offer FCC testing and certification services for all device types, including consumer, commercial and industrial devices and equipment.
