By law, electronic devices capable of emitting radio frequency (RF) waves are required to meet the standards of FCC Part 15, a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulation, to go on sale.

FCC Part 15 sets standards for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) to prevent electronics from causing electromagnetic interference (EMI).

To comply with FCC Part 15 and receive FCC certification needed to enter the US market, your device will need to be tested in an accredited electronics testing lab.

FCC Certification is Essential to Sell Your Device in the United States

In the United States, electronic devices that are capable of emitting radio frequency waves are required to comply with FCC regulations, including FCC Part 15.

FCC Part 15 sets limits for electromagnetic emissions from electronic devices. To comply with the Part 15 regulations, your device must demonstrate via lab testing that it operates within all performance limits under the standard.

Compliance with Part 15 involves completing radiated emissions testing, conducted emissions testing and electromagnetic immunity testing for your device.

FCC equipment authorization is required for all electronic devices that can emit radio frequency energy, including intentional radiators (devices such as phones, that use RF deliberately as part of communications) and unintentional radiators such as home appliances.

If your device meets the performance standards under FCC Part 15, you will receive equipment authorization, allowing you to market your device in the United States. This can take the form of FCC certification or a Supplier’s Declaration of Conformity (FCC SDoC).

Our team can provide more information about the testing and certification process, including the required tests for your device. Feel free to contact us online for more information.
