By law, all electronic devices are subject to European Conformity (CE) regulations. Lab testing allows you to CE certify your device, providing legal use of the CE marking.

We Can Help You Get CE Certification in Belgium

As an ANSI-accredited electronics testing lab, we specialize in regulatory testing and can test your device to verify it complies with CE regulatory directives.

We provide testing for many EU regulations that apply to electronic devices, including the EMC and Low Voltage Directives. We also offer testing and certification for FCC Part 15 (USA), ISED (Canada) and other electromagnetic compatibility regulations.

CE Certification is Mandatory to Sell Your Device in the EU

By law, electronic devices sold in the European Economic Area (EEA, which is made up of all EU countries and Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein) are required to comply with all relevant European Conformity directives.

Common EU directives that apply to electronic devices include:

  • Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Directive. The EMC Directive sets limits for electromagnetic interference (EMI) to ensure that devices can function normally in a shared electromagnetic environment.
  • Radio Equipment Directive (RED). The Radio Equipment Directive applies to radio frequency (RF) devices. If your device uses radio frequency waves to communicate, it is likely subject to the RED regulations.
  • Low Voltage Directive (LVD). The Low Voltage Directive applies to devices within the 15 to 1,000 volts AC or 75 to 1,500 volts DC voltage ranges. It establishes standards to ensure user safety.
  • Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive. The RoHS Directive restricts the use of potentially harmful materials, such as lead, mercury and cadmium, in devices.

In many cases, more than one regulatory directive may apply to your device. We can carry out testing for multiple regulations during one testing period, allowing you to reach compliance with all relevant CE directives at once.

Electronic Devices That Require CE Certification

All electronic devices that go onto the European Economic Area market are subject to relevant CE regulations. Common device types that are subject to CE regulations for electromagnetic compatibility include:

  • Smartphones and other mobile devices
  • Cordless phones, remotes and control devices
  • TVs, Hi-Fi systems and other home entertainment equipment
  • Dishwashers, microwaves and other home appliances
  • Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Internet of Things (IoT) devices
  • Electronic musical instruments and recording devices
  • Computers, printers, keyboards and other peripherals
  • Security cameras and other home security systems
  • Commercial and industrial electronic devices and equipment
  • Other consumer electronics
